Neil Young vs. Lynyrd Skynyrd
August 1, 2003 — 9:35 pm

Neil Young sang:

Southern man better keep your head
Don’t forget what your good book said
Southern change gonna come at last
Now your crosses are burning fast
Southern man

And:

Alabama, you got the weight on your shoulders
That’s breaking your back.
Your Cadillac has got a wheel in the ditch
And a wheel on the track

Lynyrd Skynyrd answered:

Well I heard Mr. Young sing about her.
Well, I heard ol’ Neil put ‘er down.
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember,
a southernman don’t need him around anyhow!

It’s an interesting musical rivalry. So, what did Neil Young and Lynyrd Skynyrd think of each other in real life?

All your burning questions are answered here.
